Learn how to make homemade pumpkin spice granola – super easy and so delicious. I mean, who doesn’t love granola?! Crunchy, sweet and salty with all the yummy things! This homemade granola will quickly become a staple in your pantry!

Granola is one of the easiest and best breakfast additions. Eat it as cereal with milk or add it to your yogurt for that delicious crunch and great health benefits.
We love granola, but most of the ones in the stores have extra sugar, oils like sunflower or canola oil that are high in polyunsaturated fats, extra additives to lengthen shelf life, and natural flavors (which, spoiler alert, are not so natural much less good for you).
This homemade pumpkin spice granola recipe is filled with whole ingredients, healthy fats and is naturally sweetened with honey and maple syrup. It seriously is so good, my family has a hard time making it last more than a couple of days!
I feel so much better about serving this to my family knowing that all of the ingredients are packed with rich nutritional benefits. Having freshly homemade granola just cannot compete with any store-bought granola, no matter how good it is.
This simple and delicious pumpkin spice granola is inexpensive and easy to make. Crunchy and fresh, this granola has the perfect balance of sweet, salt, and spices. Perfect for fall and winter, or really all year round!

Tools you may need:

- Airtight Storage Container – I like this one
How long will this homemade granola last?
This homemade pumpkin spice granola is best when stored in an airtight container for at least two weeks, but if you are like my family, it won’t last more than a few days!
Can I sub any of the ingredients for this pumpkin spice granola?
Absolutely! This granola is super easy to tweak to make however you and your family like! If you like your granola to be heavier on the nuts, go ahead and add more. Or leave them out completely if you don’t care for nuts!
When you make this pumpkin spice granola, you can even switch out the dried cranberries for dried dates, figs or apricots! As you are choosing a fruit, watch out for how much added sugar is in the dried fruit you pick up. This brand of cranberries from Thrive Market is naturally sweetened by apple juice and is the best I have found. Gather your ingredients for pumpkin spice granola
- 1/2 Cup Coconut Oil
- 3 Cups Organic Rolled Oats (not quick oats or steel cut)
- 1 Cup Unsweetened Raw Coconut Flakes
- 1 1/2 Cup Raw Pecans & Walnuts mix, chopped
- 1/2 Cup Dried Cranberries
- 1/4 Cup Organic Raw Honey
- 1/4 Cup Maple Syrup
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp sea salt
- 1 tsp pumpkin spice
A note on the ingredients…
Cranberries
I mentioned earlier to watch out for extra sugar added in the dried fruit you pick for this granola. A lot of brands hide A LOT of sugar while still calling their product “all-natural” and putting a healthy looking label on the packaging. It is hard to find COMPLETELY unsweetened cranberries since they are naturally so tart, but I just like to use the ones that are sweetened by apple juice. Always read the sugar amount on the ingredients label to be safe!
Coconut Flakes
The same applies to coconut flakes. I specifically look for “unsweetened” raw coconut flakes when shopping for this recipe. Coconut flakes are naturally sweet and you will be adding a ton of extra sugar by getting the sweetened coconut flakes.
Raw Honey and Maple Syrup
The amount of honey and maple syrup in this recipe is based on the assumption that the ingredients mentioned above are mostly unsweetened. These are both natural sweeteners with great health benefits and rich nutrients, as opposed to refined sugar that is simply just sugar.
Raw Nuts
I like pecans and walnuts for this recipe, but you could use any nut you like. Whatever nut you choose, go for the raw nuts since you will be roasting them with the coconut oil. Also by choosing raw, you are avoiding those unhealthy oils that the majority of nuts contain. Again, look at that ingredient label!
Coconut Oil
Coconut oil has so many health benefits, including improving blood sugar and insulin control as well as protecting against various organ diseases. You will see both refined and unrefined when shopping for coconut oil. So what’s the difference? Refined coconut oil goes through a lot of extra processing to give it have a higher smoke point and less coconut-y flavor. Unrefined is coconut oil as it is naturally derived from the coconut.
Unrefined, also called virgin, is the one I have found to have the most health benefits.
Let’s make some homemade pumpkin spice granola!
The first step is to melt the coconut oil in medium soup pot over medium-low heat. While the coconut oil melts, preheat the oven to 350โ. Once the coconut oil has melted, add the rest of the ingredients and mix until well combined!

After the ingredients are well combined, line a cookie sheet with parchment paper and spread the granola out in a thin, even layer. Bake in the oven for 30 minutes, stirring halfway through at the 15 minute mark.

Take out of the oven, stir again and let cool before storing it in an airtight glass container. Enjoy this pumpkin spice granola as cereal in milk, on top of yogurt, or just by the handful!
